Community Artists Selected – Cultural Events Invite Tampere Residents to Join In!

A community art project coordinated by the City of Tampere Public Cultural Services will begin in autumn 2025 in the residential areas of Tesoma, Peltolammi–Multisilta, and Hervanta. The community artists have now been selected, and residents are invited to participate in cultural events taking place throughout the rest of the year.
In Tesoma, BCEnsemble – Milla and Petri Neuvonen – will begin working with local residents. In Multisilta and Peltolammi, cultural content will be created by Cultural Cooperative Kiito’s Susanna Lyly and Hilkka Hyttinen, who will bring local stories to life through art. In Hervanta, artists from Cultural Cooperative TIcAS invite residents to join in a variety of communal activities.
The events will take place from September to December and are open and free of charge to everyone. You can join alone or with family or friends, and no previous experience in art is required. Suitable venues will be sought together with local actors and residents. Cultural happenings may be organized in schools, libraries, youth centers, or wherever people naturally gather. The goal is to strengthen neighborhood communities and highlight the best aspects of each district.
“I hope and believe that the artists will be warmly welcomed and that they’ll get to know their neighborhoods during the autumn while exploring different ways of working together with residents. Participation will surely be rewarding, and hopefully the activities will also generate something to share with others – stories and experiences that showcase the unique character of each district,”
says Lead Coordinator Pia Keltti from the City of Tampere Public Cultural Services.
Community art is part of the City of Tampere’s district development and The regional cultural development programme Operation Pirkanmaa, a cultural network of municipalities. The work coordinated by the City of Tampere Public Cultural Services is based on the city’s strategic goals and is carried out in collaboration with local actors and residents. The call for community artists was open in the Kulttuuripankki service from June 25 to August 11, 2025.
This cultural initiative is made possible by The regional cultural development programme Operation Pirkanmaa, a cultural network of municipalities. The events are free of charge and represent various art forms across the Pirkanmaa region. In Tampere, they are implemented as community art activities.
